All elements of the prefab toolbar contain an empty child 'NGUI Snapshot Point 36'. What are these children supposed to do? Can I delete them?

They position and size the snapshot for the Prefab Toolbar. That's how you can control which part of your element is visible. Attach UISnapshotPoint script to make the values make more sense.
