Title: UILabel encoding and dynamic fonts
Post by: kittikun on June 06, 2014, 05:21:37 AM
Hi,

I was wondering if there was a way for encoding to be used with UILabel. For example, taking image from an atlas.

Would that be difficult to achieve ? What approach would you recommend ?

Thanks

I don't understand the question. What encoding? Do you mean BBCode? What does it have to do with an atlas? Dynamic fonts don't use atlases.

Oh sorry I was not clear, I am talking about

This seems to be a bitmap font feature only so what would be a good way to get something similar using dynamic fonts ?

I'll make it work for dynamic fonts when Unity fixes the numerous issues with dynamic fonts (so hopefully 4.6). I'm trying to keep dynamic fonts less appealing so people stick to bitmap fonts, or I'll keep getting bug reports about issues in Unity that I can't do anything about. I've posted the disadvantages to dynamic fonts on many occasions now. They vary from performance degradation to the more serious missing letters.
