Windward has been redone pretty much from scratch in under 2.5 months, and is now out on Steam Early Access. Read more here:

Congratulations. Launching on Steam should push the game into profit pretty soon.
Good luck and let us know how things are going! I really loved your other post where you put down the Windward stats and numbers. Curious to see how things develop from here on.

Thanks ;)

Steam has been an... interesting experience so far. So very different from the Asset Store... It's all very automated now and I haven't had to deal with anyone from Valve yet. Quite pleasant, actually -- for a cave-dwelling dev such as myself anyway. ;)

First week -- and first 3 days in particular -- were the ones where most of the sales happened, and shortly after it has trailed out. 2 weeks after early access release it's now down to a trickle income-wise.

Asset Store income has always been very even. After the first month's sales going up gradually week over week, income has been pretty steady, fluctuating by maybe 25% per week at most, and on average staying within the same amount month to month. Steam -- well, I get the impression that everyone is just waiting for sales. No one buys games at full price anymore unless it was just released. Seems like Steam's frequent sales spoiled the landscape.

One of my projects was Greenlit on Steam a few months ago.  I haven't rushed it on there yet, because I felt like it needed much more polish.

Do you have any suggestions based on your experiences with Steam?

Do you think it is wise to wait for a version thats more complete or go ahead and start the early access program and build off user suggestions?

I feel like if the gameplay and basic features aren't all there, I'm going to see quite a bit of negative reviews that will affect this project down the road even with promised updates.

Thanks for sharing any experiences.

Definitely wait until you're in beta at least. Don't rush it. You're going to have 2 major chances for exposure: when you first put your game on Early Access, and when you finally release the game (out of early access). If people play it and it doesn't offer at least $1 per hour worth of content, you can expect disappointed gamers.
