Title: license changed?
Post by: zdark on March 06, 2013, 02:32:07 AM
hi.

last week, NGUI: Licenses was Per-studio. but this week, NGUI: Licenses is Per-seat.

license changed?

So all of our project members must have NGUI license?
(designer,planner,direcctor,programmer ...)

Please let me know NGUI license policy.

Now that's strange. Last I hear it was per studio. Did the Asset Store license terms change?

http://unity3d.com/company/legal/as_terms
2.4
"Editor Extensions: END-USER is granted a license to install and use any As- sets which are categorized in the Asset Store as "Editor Extensions" only on one (1) PC. For the avoidance of doubt, Editor Extension Assets are licensed per “seat” may not be shared or used concurrently on different PCs."

This is counter to what it has been before. Does this apply to the Pro version as well, ArenMook?

This will almost definitely mean that we stop using the Asset Store completely.

NGUI has been per-seat on the asset store ever since Unity moved it from Scripting/GUI to Editor Extensions/GUI section. I believe all editor extensions fall into this category.

Nothing changes for those who picked it up prior to the change as far as I know.

At least Tasharen is certainly not going to do anything. :P

so if someone bought NGUI through the asset store, how would one convert that to a license directly from Tasharen? (if they were affected)

Assuming you bought it prior to Asset Store changing the licensing, you're not affected either way.
