I'll let you in on this awesome hack that gets rid of the watermark.

First start Unity.
Then go to Window -> Asset store
Then purchase NGUI.

Easy, if you want more life hacks let me know.

You do realize that "what that guy did" was write NGUI himself.  The publisher is Tasharen Entertainment --- what web site are you on?  Don't work with the limitations of the free version, just make your asset with retail NGUI and then don't select it in asset store tools or delete it before you package it and then include a disclaimer that "Requires NGUI"

It would be interesting to see how you laid out your menus and such.  Always nice to have something more advanced to learn off of.
