Trying to re-create the inventory example...
« on: July 13, 2014, 09:22:24 PM »
Before we start with my problem, I know this is just a bonus example and it's not directly to do with NGUI it's just something you have done to help show us it's possibilities. The reason i'm recreating it, is so I get a better understanding before i write my own inventory with NGUI. I got the free version yesterday to try i out, which i believe is 2.7?

Anyway, to the problem.

I'm trying to add a NGUI Label, I add it in the right place bla bla bla.

The problem is when i try to Import Data (Text Asset) in the inspector, after dragging the Fantasy Font - Normal onto it, instead of it working, i get 2 things in my console...
1. Imported 189 characters (which seems fine).
2. Unable to parse Json file: Fantasy Font - Normal ( Seems to be the issue)

Anyone have any idea's what i've done wrong or what the error is?

Thanks in advance,

I'm sorry, but the free version of NGUI doesn't come with any kind of support.

Maybe not from tasharen. Which seems silly as it's your product.

Hello sir, you've come to test drive our car, well here's the keys, although you've never driven a car before, just go ahead. I can't help you in any way or answer any questions until you buy the car....

Well my question still stands then for any of the community that may be nice enough to help.

I do have another slight problem I just wanted guidance on whilst i test YOUR product. But i guess that's a NO.... So be it...

Snippy aren't we?  You get the free version so you can test drive the product.  This is software, not a car.  When I get a 90 day trial of Windows Server 2008 or whatever, I don't think I can call Microsoft to open a support ticket for a trial product?  Maybe if I pay them a lot of money.

This is a forum for support from the vendor.  Other people can chime, in sure, but when the vendor/owner says he doesn't support the free product, don't be a douche about it, because that's how it is - that's the agreement for using the free product.  You can't get it to work?  Pay for it then.  It's relatively cheap for a very powerful product.

Why should the owner spend his time, which could be time spent resolving paid customers' issues, creating new features, fixing bugs, whatever... on someone who has a free version?  Easy, he shouldn't.

(...and yes, I know the new server products don't have trials anymore.)

Meh I guess. Well he took the time enough to read it, and as it was only a simple error on my end, he probably could of spotted what it was just by reading my comment which he took time to do and then say he doesn't support the free version. I understand he doesn't support it, but it doesn't come off great for him.

Why should he help someone who has the free version? I'm a potential customer of his, I had a minor stumble that needed a 2 second look and solution. I have fixed it now but i shall not be buying the full version if this forum isn't understanding or helpful to potential customers / users.

Anyway case closed.

Sorry, I'm not representative of the forum as a whole, just an individual.

Glad you figured it out.
