Tasharen Water - does it properly reflect spotlights?
« on: August 05, 2015, 10:03:11 AM »
About to purchase but need to confirm, does it properly reflect spotlights? Apparently the built in Water Pro doesn't.

Also would love to know if it would work with the LightShafts (volumetric lighting) script on github. So far in my tests WaterPro essentially 'breaks' LightShafts, I can't get it to work when WaterPro is activ e in my scene.

Any shader expert feedback appreciated!!

Depends what you mean by "reflect". The water is affected by spotlights and point lights, yes. You can play Windward, lighthouses there shine lights on the surrounding area, water included.

Hi Aren. Thanks!!

So yes it seems that it does have this advantage over waterpro.  Unfortunately I have a project that makes heavy use of Robert Cupisz' LightShafts script. Any idea if they 'play nice together'?   ie will the shaders in Tasharen 'break' the LightShafts shaders?
If there is possibly a working demo of Tasharen Water I can download and try myself... Alsp please see my one other question about the scalability of the waves, since I am simulating large pond ripples, NOT large waves.
BTW, is Tasharen Tornto based?

The water doesn't have any waves, it's just a texture. Others have used the water shader on actual non-flat geometry in the past, but I haven't done it myself. I also don't know anything about the LightShafts package you're inquiring about, so can't say much. As for a demo version... I suggest just browsing less reputable persian sites or something similar. :)

Yes, I am in Richmond Hill, just north of Toronto.

Thanks again, but the built in water pro asset has a 'waves scale' feature. Just wanted to confirm there is something similar in Tasharen. This is the volumetric lighting asset I am talking about https://github.com/robertcupisz/LightShafts

No, there isn't. Since you made a separate post, I answered it there.
