Vectrosity & NGUI
« on: October 26, 2013, 11:07:30 PM »
Hi - I'm working NGUI right now experiencing an issue similar to this (http://www.tasharen.com/forum/index.php?topic=5171.msg24926#msg24926).

I'm quite new, the line is not displaying using a Line Render in the Game preview. I've had issues with layers, and NGUI not showing other parts of my scene - that's probably all me.

The question is this.  If I use NGUI, does this mean I cannot use Line Renderer at all?  Or is it a layer issue?

Many thanks.

It's a better question to ask Vectrocity's author. NGUI's geometry is drawn on render queues 3000 and higher.

I am having the same issues and contacting him he stated he's never heard of the issue and to contact you. It doesn't matter which project I use but when I put an NGUI camera in the scene it stops the lines from rendering in game view. Any suggestions before I have to abandon NGUI all together?

That's what I thought. I'm not sure why it is disappearing. I've contacted the creator but nothing is out of the ordinary with him since it is a 3d line and just produces a mesh on creation. BUT never fails until I add an NGUI UI for some reason. Even after I add the UI and then delete it, it won't show the line rendering again in game view only. I have to not save the scene open it up again and it's fine. So something somewhere is conflicting between the two.

So I managed to figure this out right after replying earlier. In case anyone has this issue heres what happened.
When I made a Vectrosity Line without any NGUI UI it would create the line on the "Default" Layer in the background. Vectrosity instantiates the Line and the Line Manager into the scene at run time and on creation of the line in scripts. By adding in NGUI UI either after or before the Vector Line for some reason Vectrosity would default that same Vector Line to the "UI" layer after it was added to the scene. So my main camera never saw the Line because the UI layer wasn't visible. So I had to create the Line then change the layer back to "Default" or it would always default back to the "UI" layer once the NGUI UI was added to the scene. Not sure why, but it does.
