Get names of players in a channel?

Is there a way to get the names of all players in a certain channel without joining that channel?

I use the names as Roles, so I'd like to know if the channel already contains someone playing "XYZ", so I don't even offer the option to the newly joining players. (Instead of letting them try to play as XYZ and kicking them back out...)

In the next version of TNet channels have a data field (which is a string), so you can put whatever you want in there -- including the names of players within.
