Best way to edit menus?

Perhaps I have been doing this all wrong but I find that updating and maintaining menus to be particularly difficult.

I can't see any further than the camera in the Project Window so I have to copy a menu to the Hierarchy window, edit it from there, after editing I need to delete the asset in my Project window, drag it back in from the Hierarchy window and then delete my old asset from the Hierarchy window.

Is there a better method than this? I have to do all this to simple change one thing in a menu, many a time I have deleted the asset I have just created by mistake or mistakenly edited a menu whilst the program is still running and then lost all my progress when I clicked stop.

Are you talking about the inability to see the full hierarchy of prefabs? That's an issue with Unity.

Yes, I can't see any of the prefabs at all past the camera. And plus when I copy and paste, for example a button from one menu to the other, I have to have both in the Hierarchy window and lots of things like the UIScripts are all pointing to the old locations / other weird things going on. So just simply wanting to move one button from one menu to another seems a lot of work.

So it's a problem with Unity after all...

Same thing with regular models. You only see like the first 2 objects.

That seems a really odd 'feature' about Unity that. Hopefully in the future they will change it and then your library will be automatically even better to use.
