Still no decent GUI in Unity 3.x 4.0 - thankful for NGUI
« on: June 20, 2012, 01:38:58 PM »
Just wanted to say thanks for this awesome, affordable tool.  In a couple of weeks I've been able to do more than I was able to in months and it works so ... much ... better.  Now with Unity GUI delayed yet again this is even more important.

Yup, I've noticed that there was no mention of their upcoming UI system in the press release. It's a bit surprising.

Good news of course for Arenmook.

One thing that worried me a bit is that once Unity 4.0 comes out they are no longer going to support Unity 3.5 with bug fixes etc. Seems a bit sudden. If only they had got around to fixing Asset Server and things like that first.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to using NGUI in Unity 4.0 :)

The only thing coming that might be interesting is the dynamic fonts for mobiles.

Talking about that, is NGUI planning to integrate the dynamic fonts for mobiles that will come with Unity 4.0 ?

I believe its something we are considering but we're like everyone else so we have to wait for Unity 4 to be released before seeing what it would take to integrate such a feature.

Unless Unity exposes font glyph data within Unity, it ain't gonna happen. If they do, then it'll certainly be doable. It's all on Unity at this point.
