NGUI 3 Support / UILabel Box Color not configurable

Greetings,
On my UILabel, I have a text and there's a rectangle or box around it. I used to be able to remove this colored box around the text using the color swatch on the NGUI Label Widget but I don't think it's configurable. Is there any way this can still be done?
In the image attached, the box is the one around "New Label." Is this a feature or a bug?
I'm running 3.11.1 on Unity 5.5.1f1.
