Copying an NGUI RootUI to another scene

I am sure I am doing soething wrong but here is my question. I have a scene where I have set up my NGUI UI like i want it and want to copy that UI into another scene. If I copy then paste nothing shows up and nothing can be moved, basically wacked out. I have taken the whole UI root and made a prefab of it in the NGUI prefab window with the same result. Any ideas on why this is happening? Nothing rendering, nothing can be moved, basically completely broke so I have to recreate the UI manually for each scene.

Check your layers. I'm guessing your main camera draws your UI layer, which messes up your UI.
