Asian Fonts

Hi,

Is there any tutorial or resource for Asian fonts management?
My questions are pretty basic:

- Where do I get an asian font as a texture? Is there a good practice to make a texture out of a .ttf font?
- I read on the forum that Packed Fonts seem to be the way to deal with asian fonts. Is there any more info about that?

(I'm the designer, but my programer buddy will also look at the thread so I'll also appreciate technical answers).
Thanks a lot.

Hi,

If you're looking for Japanese, a starting point would be:

- Search in Asset Store for "Selected U3D Japanese Font"
- Search www.yahoo.co.jp with keywords "NGUI Glyph Designer"

Obviously, you'll need someone who understands Japanese to go forward, as well as consider whether to pay for fonts with copyrights.

Hope someone else can help you for other Asian languages.

I just used the BMFont to export eastern language glyphs. The trick is finding a font that has the glyphs inside. Few fonts actually do.

Packed fonts are indeed the way to go for eastern languages. There is a video tutorial on how to make them.
